Completed Projects<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In October 2024, an information board was unveiled on The Parade commemorating the historic sailing in 1633 of the Ark and the Dove, carrying the first settlers to Maryland.<\/p>\n

The board tells the story of the often hazardous 222-day voyage endured by the 300 or so people aboard the ships.<\/p>\n

In April 2017 the installation of a shelter on Cowes Seafront was completed, which has proved very popular with both locals and visitors to Cowes.

A new Town map<\/strong><\/a> was commissioned in 2020 and these are on display throughout the town.<\/p>\n

The Children’s Play Area,<\/strong>\u00a0the MUGA<\/strong> (Multi-Use Games Area) and the Outdoor Gym<\/strong><\/a> in Northwood Recreation Ground (situated in Park Road)\u00a0are major projects that have been completed by the Projects Committee.<\/p>\n

The Projects Committee completed works for the\u00a0Festive Lights for the High Street,\u00a0repairs and refurbishment of the crane and benches outside of the Harbour Commission office, repairs to the Town Clock, replacement artwork for the Interpretation panels in Northwood Park and\u00a0drainage for the area around the War Memorial.<\/p>\n

One of the successful projects has been the co-ordination of the defibrillators<\/a> in the Town which are now available for community use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another project undertaken was the installation of a Horizon Plaque on Cowes Parade – pointing out significant sea and land marks that can be (or could have been – in the case of those no longer in existence!) seen from The Parade. This was installed during 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n

Projects Committee<\/h2>\n

The Projects Committee is a sub-Committee of Cowes Town Council and is responsible for identifying and managing projects which are designed to improve the amenities within the town.<\/p>\n
