Cowes, the Jewel in the Solent, steeped in history yet forward thinking in outlook. I often think how lucky we are to live in this great town; a world renowned yachting centre with a great maritime tradition.
Visit the Parade or Prince's Green and just enjoy the passing panorama, walk through Bath Road and narrow High Street, there are still interesting, independent shops and restaurants to visit, and of course feel proud as Cowes entertains yachting enthusiasts during Cowes Week. Take a walk round Northwood Park; it is a wonderful place and the House goes from strength to strength.
2015 was the bicentenary of the Royal Yacht Squadron and Cowes is right to be grateful that they have made their home in Cowes Castle. It has been their presence that has shaped Cowes.
Thanks to all those businesses big and small, many continuing Cowes' fine maritime tradition and to the many unsung volunteers whose dedication and hard work make me feel proud to say "I live in Cowes".
